W-Style Doors - Glossary of Terms

Universal Drop-In Door

A roll-up door with three of the four rows of hinges assembled. The hinges on the left side (roadside) of door are shipped loose, along with the top fixture bracket, cable anchor bracket and lock. On our T-style doors, the right side (curbside) has longer hinge routs at 6" to enable customer to cut the door to the required width to complete assembly. Operator and tracks not included.

Replacement Door

A fully assembled door with all hinges, hardware and lock attached. This door is made and assembled to the customer's exact size specifications where the customer does not intend to alter the size. Operator and tracks not included.

Complete Door

A fully assembled door the same as a replacement door with the addition of an operator kit which includes right-hand and left-hand vertical track and angle assemblies, right-hand and left-hand horizontal tracks and an operator assembly.

Right Hand Side

This is the curbside of a trailer or door assembly.

Left Hand Side

This is the roadside of a trailer or door assembly.

Medium Density Plywood

A 3/4" thick, 7-ply, top grade exterior plywood.

W-Style Doors - General Information

Track
  • 2" track is standard on all W-style doors.
  • The height of the vertical track and right angle assembly is cut 6.50" greater than the wood height of the door.
  • The 2" vertical roller track is 13.75" less than the wood height of the door.
  • The 8" radius 2" horizontal track is standard on all complete doors.
  • 107" long horizontal track is used on doors up to 96" high.
  • 120" long horizontal track is used on doors over 96" high, unless specifically requested by the customer.
Operators and Components
  • Dual spring operator assembly is standard on all W-style Premium version complete doors. single spring operator assemblies are available if specifically requested by the customer.
  • Operator shafts are stocked in 87" and 93" lengths and come with flattened emboss in center and two cotter pin holes at one end.
  • The operator springs are stocked in two lengths: 29" R.H. and L.H. with .182" wire diameter and 31" R.H. and L.H. with .187" wire diameter. The 29" dual springs are used for doors 85" to 90" in height and the 31" dual springs are used for doors 91" to 114" in height.
  • Cables used on all doors is a 1/8" 7 x 19 stainless steel. The length of the cable is determined by the height of the door. The cable length must be no less than 10.00" more than the door height. ie: a 100" high door plus 10.00" = 110.00" cable length required, minimum
  • The dual spring cable drums will hold up to 130" of cable.
Paint
  • All doors and panels come painted with a gray primer as standard.
  • High gloss white top coat is available upon request at an additional cost. Door and panel top coat finishes are applied to the outside only.

  • H.D. pull strap assemblies (2 places)
  • Fork lift plate (8 places)
Panels
  • Standard panel heights are 11", 12", 13" 15" and 18". Special panel heights are available upon request. The most popular bottom panel is 15". The most popular intermediate panel is a 15", followed by 11" or 12", and 11-1/2" or 15-1/2".
  • Unless otherwise specified, doors are assembled with smaller panels at the top and larger panels at the bottom to make the door easier to open.
  • Listed are common door heights and standard panel size combinations. Combinations other than standard are available upon request.
